Types of Wines
Table or Still Wines

To these belong most wines – the reds, whites, roses, the simple everyday ones and the more complex and great vintages.

Sparkling Wines
These are carbonated by natural secondary fermentation either in the bottle itself (methode champenoise) or in a tank (charmat). Champagne and other bubbly wines often referred to as vin mousseux, cremant, petillant belong here.

Fortified Wines

These are spiked wines; wines to which alcohol is added to retain some of the sweetness. Port, Madeira & Sherry are classic examples.

Aromatised Wines

These are aromatized with herbs and other flavorings to create unusual wines. Lillet Vermouth, Dubonnet etc. fall in this group.
